Becoming a partner with the QCPA allows you to join this large community and gain visibility among members across the province of Quebec.

Fondation Louise & Alan Edwards

Research projects
The AQDC participates in research projects, either as a knowledge user, applying research findings to help mitigate chronic pain, or as a patient organization, assisting a group of researchers in recruiting participants for chronic pain research. Our involvement in patient recruitment is conditional upon the approval of the project by a recognized scientific organization and by the Research Ethics Board (REB) overseeing the research.
The AQDC has a Scientific Committee that evaluates each research project based on its scientific and ethical merits. The Committee then recommends whether or not the project should be approved. Additional information may be requested from the person responsible for the research project before approval is granted. The Committee consists of three members from clinical and scientific backgrounds.
The AQDC may participate in the following types of collaborations:
Support and Collaboration in Funding Applications
The AQDC participates in research projects either as a supporting organization or as a knowledge user.
The required documents to obtain a letter of support and/or participation in the development of a research project are:
- A letter or email of introduction signed by the person responsible for the research project, including a summary of the project and the funding application as submitted to the funding agency
- Project summary (lay abstract)
- A copy of the document to be signed by the AQDC as a partner organization
- Letter of support template
- Billing information and contact details
Requests for collaboration as a knowledge user must be submitted to aqdc@douleurquebec.ca at least three (3) weeks before the research project submission deadline to the funding agency.
Under exceptional circumstances, a 10-day notice period may be accepted.
Participation fee: $500
- Application review: $250
- Letter of support: $250
Fees will be invoiced to the person responsible for the research project, the applicant, or the organization.
In the second phase, our participation in recruiting patients for supported research projects is conditional upon approval of the project by a recognized scientific organization and by the institutional Research Ethics Board (REB) overseeing the researcher’s project.
The Scientific Committee then reviews the project and recommends whether or not it should be approved. Additional information may be requested from the person responsible for the research project before approval. The AQDC follows rigorous ethical principles.
Once the project has been approved, a confirmation of collaboration is sent by email to the person responsible for the research project. Recruitment opportunities will be posted promptly on the AQDC website. If the project materials are finalized, they should be forwarded to the AQDC when deemed necessary.
Upon confirmation of research project funding, the required documents are:
- Project summary
- Scientific approval
- REB ethical approval
- Recruitment advertisement to be disseminated (including the REB approval number)
- Billing information and contact details
Participation fee: $750

Participant Recruitment
f you have a research project and would like to recruit patients for your study, the AQDC can help. Once the Scientific Committee has approved the dissemination of your project, we will send targeted communications to our members.
The documents required to request project dissemination are:

Once the research findings have been published, a copy of the article must be provided to the AQDC.
Publications
The AQDC is committed to publishing on its website scientific articles to which our members have made a significant contribution.
In return, we ask researchers to acknowledge the contribution of the AQDC and its members in the Acknowledgments section of any publication to which they have contributed.
